Jeff Sharlet is the author of THE FAMILY: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power (Harper, 2008), a New York Times bestseller; POWER IN THE BLOOD and coauthor with Peter Manseau of KILLING THE BUDDHA: A Heretic's Bible (Free Press), named one of the 10 best religion titles of 2004 by Publishers Weekly.

He's a contributing editor for Rolling Stone and Harper's and has written for publications such as Mother Jones, the Nation, the New Republic, the Washington Post, and Oxford American.
