Margaret Leroy studied music at St. Hilda’s College at Oxford University. She has worked as a music therapist, play-leader, shop assistant and social worker. She has written widely for magazines and newspapers, and appeared on numerous radio and television programs.

Her forthcoming novel YES, MY DARLING DAUGHTER will be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in April 2009. Her previous books include POSTCARDS FROM BERLIN, a deeply effecting novel about a woman’s life unraveling when her past comes back to haunt her (Little Brown, 2003), a New York Times Notable book for 2003, and THE RIVER HOUSE (Little, Brown 2005).

She is married with two daughters and lives in Kingston-upon-Thames.
